Accomodation, Local Transportation and Tourist Information

The 32nd IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols (ICNP 2024)
Charleroi, Belgium, October 28-31, 2024  ICNP2024

Accomodation

The conference venue is located in the center of Charleroi. We recommend you the following hotels:

These hotels are about 15-20 minutes away of the conference venue by foot. You can also leverage the Charleroi metro (the conference venue is near the “Waterloo” stop, while there are the “Tirou” and “Gare Centrale” stops around the hotels). Note that there are also some short-term renting opportunities in the city center.

While there are many hotels around the Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), please note that the airport is quite far from the city center (~10 km).

Transportation from Airports to the Conference City

The following instructions help you reach the main Charleroi rail station (Charleroi-Central), which is close to most of the housing solutions you may find in Charleroi. Note that from the rail station, there is still a 25 minute walk towards the conference location.

From the Zaventem/Brussels Airport (BRU)

The easiest way to reach Charleroi is to rely on the SNCB trains from the airport rail station ( named Zaventem (airport), to not be confused with the Zaventem station! ) to the Charleroi-Central rail station. You can find the rail planner on https://www.belgiantrain.be/en. Note that the names of the stations are provided in both French and Dutch, as you may see either variant depending on your location. Your journey will approximately last 1h30.

If you arrive during the week-end (on Saturday 26 or Sunday 27)

There are one-stop journeys every hours (starting from the airport at XXh30). Take the train to Enghien/Edingen and stop at Bruxelles Midi/Brussels-Zuid. Then, take the connection to Charleroi-Central (departing at XXh07), the destination is the terminus station.

Caution: the last train starts at 22h30 in Zaventem (airport) and at 23h07 at Bruxelles-Midi/Brussels-Zuid.

If you arrive during the workdays (e.g., on Monday 28)

There are 4 possible journeys per hour. The easiest one is the omnibus train starting at XXh47 to Charleroi-Central, where the destination is the terminus station.

Caution: the last train starts at 23h02 in Zaventem (airport).

From the Bruseels South Charleroi Airport (CRL)

The easiest solution is to rely on the A1 line of TEC busses with final destination to Charleroi-Central, departing twice per hour at XXh00 and XXh30 from 4h30 to 23h30. See the details of this bus line here.
